Why do you CF? Is there something better I can be doing with my time?

What is your nutrtition philosophy?  Eat good foods. Do what your body wants you to do. Nutrition is the only thing in life that is best done in moderation. Everything else falls into the category of "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing excessively" category.

What is your favorite movement?  Picking things up. Barbells, stones, buckets, kettlebells, boxes, anything heavy. Whether you squat it, clean it, jerk it, press it... Doesn't matter. I just like playing with heavy things.

What is your least favorite movement?  Putting things down. Unless it's just to pick them up again. Or bodyweight movements. Those are heavy. But they're not so fun. So I guess I should clarify. I like picking up heavy things that aren't me.

What is your favorite WOD?  Grace. Isabel. Heavy work that I can finish in under 5 mins. Or ANYTHING on the Assault Bike. That's the funnest toy ever invented.

What is your least favorite WOD? Eva. No explanation necessary.

What is your short term CF goal? Be more awesome.

Long term goal? Compete at the 2019 CrossFit Games Masters 45-49 age division

Tell us one fact people at the gym don't know about you. Have you ever been in the gym? I love to talk. Excessively. I have no shame. And no limits. I doubt there's anything our members don't know about me. 

What do you like about coaching? Proving people wrong. Every athlete believes they have a limit to their potential in the gym. They're all wrong.

Why  do you CF?   It's always challenging, exciting, and something new everyday.

What is your nutrtition philosophy?  I follow a macros based system that allows me to fuel my body in a healthy way but lets me enjoy a tasty treat from time to time. Like Pizza!

What is your favorite movement?   HSPU

What is your least favorite movement?   Wall Balls... (Yuck!)

What is your favorite WOD?  Nancy

What is your least favorite WOD?  Karen. Or Eva (double YUCK!)

What is your short term CF goal?  35 Unbroken Pull Ups

Long term goal?   Make a run at regionals

Tell us one fact people at the gym don't know about you.  I'm TERRIFIED of frogs. I don't like them. Will never like them. (Triple YUCK!)

What do you like about coaching?   So many reasons, but really it boils down to I love being around people that want to achieve goals...if I can help them achieve something they couldn't do before they walked through our gym doors, that makes me an incredibly happy coach.

JESSICA ALLEY-Coach/Social Media Director

Age: 37
How long have you been doing CrossFit:  Almost 3 years.
Why do you CrossFit?  Many reasons.  The community, the challenge, the unknown.  I love coming into the gym every day with fellow athletes, wondering how I'll do with a given set of challenges.  It's different every day and I love the variety.  And you can't beat the community.  It's like a family.
What is your nutrition philosophy? LOL, oh geez.  I had great success with the Macro system and even when I followed it roughly 80% of the time, I found myself feeling stronger, faster, and healthier.  Right now, while pregnant (and finally out of the first trimester), my goal is to try and eat as balanced as possible.  Protein really helps steady my stomach so I try and make sure I get enough each day.


What is your favorite movement?  OHS all day!  Second would be snatch.  Both are super challenging and incredibly rewarding when you actually stick it. 
What is your least favorite movement?  Back squat.  Second would be deadlift.  #nope
What is your favorite WOD?  That's a tough one.  I don't know if I have a favorite one yet, but I really enjoy doing the Hero WODs.  Whether individually or with a partner, those hold a special meaning and help me keep going when I feel like stopping. 
What is your least favorite WOD?  Filthy Fifty
What is your short term CF goal?  To continue to get stronger as I progress in pregnancy, to rebound quicker after the baby comes than I did with my first three children, and to have fun doing it. 
What is your long term CF goal?  Long term (well after the baby comes), I want to master things like the HSPU, muscle-up, and other lifts/movements that appear to be crazy hard to the average athlete.  Bottom line...I want to be stronger. 
Tell us one fact people at the gym don't know about you.  That's hard, y'all know a LOT about me!  Um, I'm scared of people dressed up in costumes?  I hate Halloween. 
What do you like about coaching?   I LOVE IT.  There's something awesome about seeing someone fail a lift, determine the issue, communicate it, watch them make a small change, and then nail the lift.  The look of accomplishment on their faces is priceless.  I love watching people walk in doubtful and then overcome their fear of failure or whatever it is.  It's so fun.

Why  do you CF? It allows me to challenge myself all the while improving my health and well being

What is your nutrtition philosophy? I crossfit because it allows me to challenge myself all the while improving my health and well being

What is your favorite movement?  Favorite crossfit movement would be thruster

What is your least favorite movement?  Least favorite movement would be assault bike

What is your favorite WOD?  All of them!

What is your least favorite WOD?  Death by kettle bells

What is your short term CF goal?  To win a local crossfit competition

Long term goal? Qualify for regionals

Tell us one fact people at the gym don't know about you.  I was very active in the Boy Scouts growing up.

What do you like about coaching? Watching athletes start to realize their true potential and begin to chase it, the sky is the limit from there.

 

ALICIA GUIZA-Coach

Age:  35
How long have you been doing CF? 3 years

Why  do you CF? Because I've tried everything else and nothing satisfies me more than CrossFit 

What is your nutrtition philosophy? I've tried many different things but eating clean is the only thing that allows me to be my best....but knowing this doesn't stop the existence of pizza and cake ...so there's that

What is your favorite movement?  Cleans!!!

What is your least favorite movement?  Box jumps and anything to do with the pull up bar

What is your short term CF goal?  Stringing my pullups better

What do you like about coaching? I love helping people improve..to see them reach a goal that they have been working towards. To just be the encouragement they need that day.
